- Gage Park Gun Exchange
Students at Gage Park HS are organizing a gun exchange to help reduce gun violence in their neighborhood. Click here to see the social media campaign they have launched to lead up to the event itself. - Piece Mural on the Brown Line
Piece, a student group from Northside College Preparatory High School, is working with the Chicago Transit Authority to create a community mural at the Kimball Brown Line Station.
Public art is known to help decrease the amount of vandalism and gang-related activity in communities, thus Piece hopes to inspire and brighten its community with student-created art. This mural will not only serve to beautify the community, it will serve to connect people that live, work, and go to school in North Park and Albany Park. It will depict the skyline of downtown Chicago and and span out into various neighborhoods by way of the CTA train system. It is intended to show that the city is dynamic, vibrant, and most importantly, interconnected.
